No team has been closer to a Lombardi trophy in recent years without winning it than the San Francisco 49ers. The Niners have held late leads over Kansas City in two separate Super Bowls, and they were on the losing end of the longest Super Bowl in history this past season. Levi’s Stadium is hosting the 2026 Super Bowl, so that means a number of upgrades are taking place in the meantime, including work to 100 of the stadium’s suites. The 49ers just missed out on reaching their second Super Bowl in the last three years in an NFC Championship game loss to the Rams last year, and now quarterback Trey Lance is expected to take the reins of the offense after being the third pick in the 2021 NFL Draft. Other young stars like Ambry Thomas, Talanoa Hufanga, and Elijah Mitchell emerged last season, and the team hopes it can resolve its issues with Deebo Samuel, as he turned into an all-purpose wide receiver and running back threat last year. The defense also is elite, holding off Dallas and then keeping Green Bay to just 10 points in playoff wins last year.
