As a Texas native, George Strait was introduced to country music at a young age. George Strait was close to calling it quits on his music career and taking over his families cattle ranch business after multiple failed trips to Nashville, but in 1981 Strait finally signed his first record deal. The rest is history!

Career Achievements

Strait has received a total of 22 CMA Awards and 19 total Academy of Country Music Awards, more than any other country music artist. George Strait has released 60-number one country music hits over the course of his career. On June 8, 2010 George Strait was named the Artist of the Decade for the 2000's.
