New York made the postseason last year for the second time in three seasons. That’s a stark difference from the previous seven seasons where the Knicks didn’t appear in the playoffs once. Point guard Jalen Brunson is helping change the narrative of New York basketball. In his first season with the team, Brunson averaged 24 points for the first time, averaged over six assists, and shot nearly 42% from deep. Those numbers helped teammates Julius Randle and RJ Barrett have promising years as well. And guard Josh Hart, who New York traded for last season, made an immediate impact. To improve in the off-season, the Knicks signed Donte DiVincenzo, an effective bench option. New York is gearing up for a statement season in 2023-24.

The big acquisition was point guard Jalen Brunson, and Knicks fans have to be excited after Brunson averaged 32 points per game running the point in three games of last year’s playoffs where he played in place of the injured Luka Doncic. R.J. Barrett was signed to an extension, and he and Evan Fournier will be called upon for their sharpshooting abilities.

Julius Randle averaged career best numbers with more than 24 points and 10 rebounds a contest. R.J. Barrett enters his third year in the NBA looking every bit of the top-rated prospect from Toronto, who reclassified a year early to play for Duke. The reigning NBA Coach of the Year, Tom Thibodeau, added two huge pieces of the puzzle in the offseason in Kemba Walker and Evan Fournier. Former MVP Derrick Rose seems to have found his role in the rotation as well, making this perhaps the most exciting Knicks’ season since Patrick Ewing strolled the Garden floor.
