Houston continues to build towards a bright future. The Rockets had a strong draft, grabbing Amen Thompson and Cam Whitmore in the first round. Thompson, the fourth pick, shined with the Overtime Elite last year. He averaged over 16 points, 6.4 rebounds, and 6.2 assists. Whitmore, the 20th overall pick, is an intriguing prospect. With Villanova in 2022-23, he averaged 12.5 points and shot an effective 57.8% from the field. Both join Jalen Green, Jabari Smith Jr., and Alperen Sengun to create a young Rockets core. And, to add veteranship, Houston signed Fred VanVleet in the offseason. The guard is an NBA champion and averaged over 19 points with Toronto last campaign. The Rockets will be a fun one to watch this season.
