Columbus is set for improvement in 2023-24. It starts with Johnny Gaudreau, who is one of the best players in the league. He ranked second in the league with 115 points in 2021-22. Gaudreau has never tallied under 40 assists in a season. He has help on the way with rookie center Adam Fantilli. The 19 year old, who was just picked third overall, is regarded as one of the top prospects in the NHL. Fantilli will play immediately for Columbus and is a major part of its quest towards the postseason. He’s a box office type of player who is a must watch. The Blue Jackets have other pieces, but Fantilli and Gaudreau are the ones to key in on. That alone is worth paying attention to Columbus this season.

The talent is present, but can new head coach Brad Larsen put all the puzzle pieces in place to maximize it? The longtime Blue Jackets assistant took the reins from John Tortorella, signing a three-year deal to become head coach this summer. Last season’s major acquisition, Patrik Laine, had a highly-disappointing start to his Columbus tenure. However, at just 23-years-old, the hockey wunderkind can easily return to his 40-goal form that made him one of the league’s brightest young stars. Oliver Bjorkstrand and former Philadelphia Flyer Jakub Voracek will provide offensive assistance and Boone Jenner takes the leadership role of captain from the departing Nick Foligno. Goaltending duties once again belong to Joonas Korpisalo and Elvis Merzlikins, both of whom enter the final year of their contracts. Groups large and small can enjoy the premium experience at Nationwide Arena. The Party Towers can accommodate up to 48 guests in a private, interactive space complete with theatre-style seating and a fully-furnished lounge with wet bar. Groups of 4 will find the Loge Boxes or Terrace Tables more than suitable. Both options offer in-seat food and beverage service and access to the Pizzuti Club Lounge featuring premium dining options and a full bar.

The Blue Jackets made some big moves at the trade deadline last season and it paid off by not only making the playoffs, but recording a shocking sweep of the Presidents’ Trophy-winning Tampa Bay Lightning in the first round.

Despite losing Matt Dochene, Artemi Panarin, and Sergei Bobrovsky, don’t discount head coach John Tortorella, who has always been able to get everything he can out of his players. Seth Jones and Zach Werenski return, and they are joined by free-agent pick-up Gustav Nyquist, who had 60 points last year between Detroit and San Jose. Panarin’s replacement will be Alexandre Texier, the 20-year-old who thrilled CBJ fans during last year’s playoffs by scoring three points in eight games.
